Comeback: window resealed, still leaks
2018 travel trailer, horizontal sliding window over the dinette. 30A shore
Customer says: Another shop pulled and resealed the dinette window a month ago. It still leaks when it rains hard. The cushion gets soaked.
Fresh sealant around the outside of the window frame, including a bead all along the bottom edge. Their invoice says: Removed window, replaced putty tape, resealed.
Tests you can run
- Read the other shop's invoice
- Moisture meter on the wall under the window, inside
- Look in the window's lower track from inside
- Look at the frame flange outside
- Water test the frame flange, bottom and then sides, keeping water off the glass
- Spray only the glass and watch the lower track inside
- Look for the weep slots on the outside bottom of the frame
- Clear the weep slots and spray the glass again
- Pull the window and reseal it again
