12 volt and 120 volt electrical: 1 recall
Recall 06V161000 (09/05/2006): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS
ON CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE 110-VOLT RECEPTACLE IN THE GALLEY AREA OF THE UNIT IS REQUIRED TO BE PROTECTED BY A GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTER (GFI) RECEPTACLE OR BY A GFI TYPE BREAKER IN THE PANEL BOARD. THE 110-VOLT GALLEY RECEPTACLE UNIT DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROTECTION.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE PRESENT GALLEY RECEPTACLE, INSTALL A NONMETALLIC OUTLET BOX, AND INSTALL AND TEST THE GFI 110-VOLT RECEPTACLE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AIRSTREAM AT 937-596-6111.
What a tech checks: Voltage drop, grounds, the converter and the transfer switch. Melted shore-cord plugs and bad grounds cause most of the electrical complaints techs actually see. Before you buy: Battery at rest, converter output on shore power, GFCI test, every outlet.
