Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2013-2021 Momentum, Solitude, and Reflection recreational vehicles. A 110-volt wire in the refrigerator cabinet may be improperly secured, which could result in the wire contacting the refrigerator cooling unit, causing an electrical arc.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged wiring, and properly secure the wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 21, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910026.
What a tech checks: On absorption fridges the big failure is the cooling unit leaking ammonia (yellow residue, a sharp smell) and boards or igniters on the gas side. Compressor fridges fail on the 12 V supply more than the compressor. Before you buy: Look at the back through the outside vent for yellow powder; run it on both power sources.

Structure, roof and leaks: 5 complaints
What a tech checks: Roof sealant, seams, window and slide seals, and the frame. Water intrusion shows up as delamination, soft floors and stained ceilings months after the leak started. Before you buy: Press the sidewalls and walk the floor; look at every seam and seal.

Axles, brakes, suspension and hitch: 2 complaints
What a tech checks: Bearings, brake magnets, worn shackle bolts and bent axles. A trailer that wears tires on the inside edge or pulls to one side usually has an axle or suspension problem. Before you buy: Bolts tight, springs not flat, brakes apply with the breakaway pin pulled.

What owners reported to NHTSA
06/14/2024, STRUCTURE: Potential frame failure. First noticed [XXX]. Grand Design contacted, but no appointment due to "Customer Care Center" being moved. Referred to Royal RV in Middlebury, IN. Appt. set for Mid May. No concern by GD that we would be traveling 1500 miles. Visual inspection @ Royal RV suggested potential frame failure. Appt. set for June 18th for full inspection. Both Grand Design {case# XXX} and Lippert Components
05/30/2024, STRUCTURE: I have developed a severe case of Frame Flex in my RV. When the RV is put on the hitch and the weight of the RV is transferred to the truck, there is a lot of flex in the upper deck of the RV. This flex is outside of the suggested tolerance of the manufacturer. This could be a result of frame failure inside the upper deck.
05/28/2024, SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE: the front frame of my rv is broken in the pin box area
05/26/2024, STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER: Mounting bolts from frame to Rv front sidewall are in 3/8” lag bolt mounted in pine wood (all are striped, won’t tighten). This allows the complete front Rv wall to move allowing further frame issues. Holes in frame rail are 1/2” , grand design installed smaller lag bolts 3/8” this has caused the bolts to eventually fail. This is happening on approximately 30% or more of Grand Design RVs. The factory needs to provide
05/21/2024, SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER: front frame failure, yes, trailer is sagging in the front, inspected by insurance co., no warning
