Recall 17V746000 (21/11/2017): EQUIPMENT
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
Fix: Jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.
Axles, brakes, suspension and hitch: 2 complaints
What a tech checks: Bearings, brake magnets, worn shackle bolts and bent axles. A trailer that wears tires on the inside edge or pulls to one side usually has an axle or suspension problem. Before you buy: Bolts tight, springs not flat, brakes apply with the breakaway pin pulled.

Motorhome chassis: 1 complaint
What a tech checks: The chassis (Ford, Freightliner, Mercedes, Ram) is serviced by the chassis maker's dealer, not the RV shop. RV techs handle the house, not the drivetrain. Before you buy: Chassis recalls are fixed free at the chassis maker's dealer.
Tires: 1 complaint
What a tech checks: Age, load range and pressure. RV tires age out before they wear out, and an underrated tire on a heavy trailer is a blowout waiting to happen. Before you buy: Read the DOT date and the load range on the sidewall.

What owners reported to NHTSA
10/07/2016, SUSPENSION: PURCHASED FROM AN INDIVIDUAL THIS WHITEHAWK. NOTICED EXTREME TIRE WEAR ON THE TRAILER SO DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT SOME 2012 WHITEHAWKS HAD THE WRONG AXLES INSTALLED. JAYCO DID NOT RECALL ANY OF THESE WHITE HAWKS. I HAD TO PAY FOR LABOR ON A MISS-ASSEMBLY AND WILL HAVE TO REPLACE TIRES PREMATURELY.
10/07/2016, SERVICE BRAKES: HAD TO CHANGE AXLES ON WHITE HAWK AND THE GUY DOING THE WORK NOTICED THE BRAKES WERE MISSING A BUSHING ON THE ACTUATOR ARM. HE SAID IN THE 15 YEARS HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKE ASSEMBLIES DUE TO THE OMISSION OF THIS PART. DEXTER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME THE COST OF THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY.
07/30/2017, STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ENTERING EXPRESS WAY A TRUCK WAS TURING THE CAR WAS SO CLOSE NOT LETTING TRUCK TURN WHICH STARTED TO SPEED TO GO FASTER THAN TRUCK
06/23/2014, TIRES: I HAD A TIRE BLOW-OUT WHILE TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN JULY OF 2013 WITH LESS THAN 2,000 MILES ON THE TRAILER. I CHANGED THE TIRE AND REPAIRED THE DAMAGE TO MY TRAILER NOT KNOWING THE REASON FOR THE BLOW-OUT. I HAD MONITORED MY TIRES FOR THE NEXT YEAR OR SO, OF WHICH I PROBABLY PUT ANOTHER 2,000 MILES ON THE TRAILER) AND FOUND THAT THEY WERE WEARING VERY UNEVEN. SO MUCH SO THAT THE OUTSIDE TREAD
