Recall 18V546000 (17/08/2018): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Winnebago Industries, Inc (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Winnebago Era, Travato, Fuse, View, Trend, Aspect, Paseo, Via, Adventurer, Journey, Tour, and Grand Tour motorhomes. These vehicles have an auxiliary solar charging port circuit that is not fused.

Fix: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will install an inline 15 amp fuse into the auxiliary solar charging port circuit, free of charge. Winnebago issued interim notifications to owners on December 4, 2018. The recall began June 5, 2019. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885.

What a tech checks: Voltage drop, grounds, the converter and the transfer switch. Melted shore-cord plugs and bad grounds cause most of the electrical complaints techs actually see. Before you buy: Battery at rest, converter output on shore power, GFCI test, every outlet.

Recall 19V568000 (01/08/2019): WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Fuse motorhomes built on a 2018 Ford Transit chassis and equipped with aluminum wheel feature code 63W. The wheel studs may be too long, preventing the lug nuts from properly securing the wheels.

Fix: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheel studs with a shorter version, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2019. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. Winnebago's number for this recall is 159.

What a tech checks: Bearings, brake magnets, worn shackle bolts and bent axles. A trailer that wears tires on the inside edge or pulls to one side usually has an axle or suspension problem. Before you buy: Bolts tight, springs not flat, brakes apply with the breakaway pin pulled.

What owners reported to NHTSA

05/01/2020, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE ATS IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY, VERY HOT AND IS DISCOLORING THE PAPER SHEET THAT IS NEAR IT BECAUSE OF THIS HEAT. I NOTICED THIS FINALLY AFTER READING ONLINE ABOUT MANY, MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND SOME EVEN HAD FIRES START. MOSTLY THE ATS BURNED UP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE COMPANY HAS BEEN GOOD ABOUT IT AND IS REPLACING THEM IF THEY ARE FAULTY.
