Leveling: bmpro jaycommand

What it is

BMPRO JAYCOMMAND (also JAYCOMMAND Plus) is Jayco's RV control platform: a wall touchscreen plus a phone/tablet app that runs leveling, slide-outs, lights, awnings, tanks and battery monitoring through a CAN network. Found on Jayco North Point, Pinnacle, Seismic, Eagle, and Starcraft/Highland Ridge units (2020-present). The leveling side is electric jacks driven through the JAYCOMMAND interface.

NEVER use the jacks to lift the coach for tires or underbody work. Use jack stands. Never lift the tires off the ground.

Before you diagnose

Battery fully charged and testing above 12 V under load. Low voltage causes most JAYCOMMAND weirdness

Controller (the JAYCOMMAND master node) is fully secured in its production location. The level sensor lives inside it

App and panel show the same status. If they disagree, suspect CAN communication, not the jacks

Test each jack individually from the Individual Jack Control page before blaming the system

Reset the zero point (the procedure techs get stuck on)

The zero point is the level reference the system returns to on every auto-level. If it is wrong or lost, auto-level fails or finishes crooked. Two procedures: the normal one, and the Jayco SRP 22-046 reset for systems that keep throwing 'Jacks Not Configured' or keep losing the zero point.

Normal zero point calibration

1. From the Home page, press the Settings icon (top right). 2. Press Motor Settings. 3. Press and HOLD the START button for half a second. Status shows 'Calibration Active'. 4. Use the direction arrows to move the jacks until the RV is level (use a carpenter's level on the floor, front-to-rear and side-to-side). 5. Press and HOLD the SET button for half a second. The system calibrates for a few seconds, then status returns to 'Idle'. Done.

Both START and SET need a half-second press-and-hold. A quick tap does nothing. This is the #1 reason techs think the procedure is broken.

The same sequence works from the JAYCOMMAND phone/tablet app: Settings, Motor Settings, press-and-hold START, level, press-and-hold SET.

When it keeps losing the zero point (Jayco SRP 22-046)

For systems that continuously throw 'Jacks Not Configured' errors or won't remember the configured zero point (2020-present Jayco, Starcraft, Highland Ridge): 1. Individually extend each leveling leg, scissor jack and tongue jack about 6 inches using the Individual Jack Control page. If any jack doesn't extend correctly, fix THAT problem first. 2. At one of the extended REAR leveling jacks, unplug the jack-to-harness connector with the heavy gauge wires. 3. Touch 'Retract All' on the Leveling page. An error should appear as soon as the system tries to retract the unplugged jack. 4. Plug the connector back in. 5. Extend each jack 6 inches again if not already. 6. 'Retract All' again. All jacks should fully retract with NO error. 7. Pre-level the interior floor with a carpenter's level using Individual Jack Control or Motor Settings. 8. On the Motor Settings page touch 'Start'. Status shows 'Calibration Active'. 9. Touch 'Set' and wait (typically under 15 seconds) until status shows 'Idle'. 10. Retract all jacks, then run a full auto-level cycle uninterrupted to verify.

The unplug/retract trick forces the controller to re-learn the jack configuration. That's what actually fixes the 'Jacks Not Configured' loop, not the zero point itself.

Won't auto-level, status says lost communication

Check the CAN wiring between the leveling node and the JAYCOMMAND master: unplug and reconnect both ends, look for bent pins and chafed harness runs. Power-cycle the master controller. If communication still fails with a good harness, the leveling node is the suspect.

Resetting the JAYCOMMAND controller itself

Power-cycle first: disconnect from battery/power, wait, reconnect. A full factory reset wipes all configuration including the zero point, slide counts and light settings, so treat it as a last resort and expect to re-configure everything afterward.

Where the numbers live

Battery voltage, tank levels and jack current draw are all visible in the JAYCOMMAND interface. Watch battery voltage during a leveling run: if it sags below about 12 V, fix the battery/charging problem before chasing leveling faults.
