Trailer brakes feel weak
2019 travel trailer, tandem axle, 12 in electric brakes. Hooked to the tow vehicle
Customer says: It feels like the trailer is pushing the truck when we stop, even with the brake controller turned up.
Tests you can run
- Check the brake controller setting and display
- Brake wire at the truck's 7-way, manual lever all the way over
- Total brake current at the trailer plug, lever all the way over
- Ohms on each magnet at its leads, disconnected
- Pull the right rear drum and look
- Check the shoe adjustment
- Trailer ground: white wire to frame
- Replace the brake controller
