Generator cranks but won't start
2016 Class C, Onan 4000 gasoline generator. On battery, 12.6 V
Customer says: The generator cranks and cranks but won't fire. It sat all winter. It ran fine in the fall.
Fuel gauge shows just under half a tank.
Tests you can run
- Confirm fuel level above a quarter tank
- Listen for the fuel pump during prime, then crack the line at the carb
- Spark test with an inline tester
- A short shot of starting fluid in the intake, then crank
- Read the fault code at the start switch
- Oil level
- Battery voltage while cranking
- Replace the fuel pump
