Transfer switches and generator power
The transfer switch picks between shore and generator. When it fails, the coach may have power on one source and not the other.
The short version
- Check voltage coming in from each source at the transfer switch.
- Most switches have a delay for the generator. Wait for it before calling it bad.
- Burned or loose contacts are common. Look for heat damage.
- If shore works but generator doesn't, check the generator's output and breaker first.
Try it on a service call
Put the lesson to work on a hands-on troubleshooting case.
Keep going on 120V and shore power
