Cable slide 3D wiring model
BAL Exact-Slide (XACT)
A BAL Exact-Slide (XACT) has a motor at the top of each jamb. Its chain pulls Out cables to the room's inside end and In cables to its outside end, and the eMFORCE control shuts each motor off when its side seals.
Parts in this model
- 30 a breaker: BAL calls for a 30 A self-resetting breaker on 10 AWG in the feed to the control. A weak battery is still the most common cause of a dead slide.
- Room switch: Momentary, center off. It sends 12 V to the control's SW OUT or SW IN terminal. Hold it until the control shuts each motor off.
- Motor 1
- Motor 2
- Cables + standoffs: Four cables per jamb: inside top and bottom pull the room out, outside top and bottom pull it in. Each runs over a jamb pulley to a standoff bracket on the room.
The sequence
- At rest. The room is in. The outside (In) cables hold it against the wall; the control sleeps after 5 minutes without a switch input.
- Extend. SW OUT gets 12 V. The control runs both motors; each chain takes up its jamb's inside cables and pays out the outside ones, pulling the room's inner end toward the wall.
- Full out. The inside standoffs reach the wall and the control turns each motor off. Keep holding the switch until both stop: that's the best seal.
- Retract. SW IN gets 12 V. Both motors reverse; the outside cables pull the room's outer end back to the wall and the control shuts each motor off as it seals.
